What is Rose Veal?
There are two different rearing methods for veal on our farm: Dairy and beef breed choices.
*NEVER are the veal produced locked inside a barn.
**No animal that goes for veal receives any type of milk replacer, grains, antibiotics or growth hormones.
Dairy Veal
When starting these calves for veal, the animal is left with its mother until time of harvest.
All calves are born on pasture during the months of April, May and June.
During the progression of their lives, they are provided milk directly from the cows on farm.
They have dedicated, managed rotational pastures during summer months that provide high quality forages for growing cattle.
Animals are raised to a maximum of 26 weeks of age and dress around 150-200 pounds.
Heritage Breed Veal
Pastured Rose Veal, upon request and specialty order only, from Irish Dexter Cattle (A heritage beef breed) is available during the fall season.
The Dexter Cattle Veal is the truest form of Meadow Rose Veal as the calves are pastured on rotational grazing with their mothers from time of birth until harvest. These animals never receive grain.
Calves are allowed to grow naturally (without prescribed feeding of milk amounts) up to weaning stage at approximately six months of age.
Pre-Orders must be placed, including a 50% deposit.
